CETIOM was established in 1957. It is the technical center for research and development of oilseed production procedures in France. The main crops involved are rapeseed, sunflower, soybeans and linseed.
CETIOM activities
- CETIOM is the partner of oilseed growers and their support organizations, to develop the technical innovations of tomorrow.
- Its first goal is to improve the economic competitiveness of oilseed crops, at every stage of the process, from growth to using the processed product..
- In the field, CETIOM supports the organizations concerned with oilseed development, through its testing and experts network. It also aims to maintain permanent contact with research and with the industries of agricultural supplies and processing.

CETIOM has approximatively 120 permanent employees located all over France, 70% are engineers and technicians.
Its activity covers all sectors aiming at the improvement of oilseed prodcution, quality and markets.

Scientific Committee
CETIOM's scientific program is discussed by an advisory board, the Technical Committee, composed of outside scientists not tied to CETIOM. It is chaired by a public research personality, who garantees the independance of the Committee.It brings together scientists of the public and para-public sector (12), representatives of the Oilseed sector (5) and economic actors in this field (5).
Board of Directors
CETIOM's inter-professional activity is apparent at the institutional level through the composition of its board of directors. Its members are all agricultural professionnals and represent every economic player in the oilseed sector.
The chairman of the board of directors is a farmer and most members have outside duties in other professional organizations in the sector.

CETIOM staff is distributes in equal parts between activities of research and development.
Working at CETIOM
Various disciplines are practiced in our company. Agronomists work next to chemists, managers or computer engineers. Moreover, each year CETIOM hosts many trainees, apprentices and short-term contracts.

Budget
CETIOM's total budget is approximatively 11 million euros.
All oilseed producers contribute to funding CETIOM through a levy made mandatory by the government and paid to ONIDOL (National Interprofessionnal Oilseed Organization). The levy is linked to the production of rapeseed, sunflower, soybean and linseed.
The budget is complemented by financing from ADAR (National Association for Agricultural Development) and R&D contracts with the European Commission, French ministries and regions and industries in the sector.

Quality Assurance
Since 2000 CETIOM's methods and functionning is certified by AFAQ (*) through ISO 9001 certification. This certification concerns CETIOM as a whole, for all its activities. It was confirmed in 2003 by CETIOM's advancing to ISO certification 9001 - version 2000.
CETIOM's 6 testing stations received the "Good Testing Practices" certification.
The Ardon Analysis Laboratory is accredited according to the EN-ISO-CEI 17025 guidelines. This enables the lab to answer the most demanding competitive biddings, and to garantee the reliability of its methods and precesses. It also compels the lab to constantly improve its procedures and functioning.
